Editor,

It’s time to bring someone to the school board table who is an experienced educator, whose collaborative and analytical skills embrace the success of all students in the district.

Betty Bond believes that our schools can deliver quality education without wasting resources, but that it will require leadership to provide the oversight to ensure top-notch resources.

Betty is our candidate with a passion to help our children receive the best education possible and to help our entire educational community retain and continue their own passions for helping our kids reach their individual goals.

Our community is rich with talent that is already reaching out to share visual and performing arts with our children, but our support for these programs is needed to continue this level of community participation.

Betty Bond is the candidate who has actual classroom experience and fully appreciates the dedication of time and effort it takes to deliver a quality instructional program. She has taught at varied grade levels, instructed and evaluated student teachers, served as a teacher mentor, and has been involved in almost every facet of the educational process.

Betty Bond also understands how important it is to ensure that every teacher embraces the importance that all children, regardless of learning style, need to have access to all grade level curriculum.

She sees education as a holistic issue and feels that there are many issues that need to be explored. Betty has a broad view of the educational process and understands that while some issues may be emotionally charged, only reasonable discourse, research, listening and careful planning can promote positive change.

Proven leadership, collaborative skills and experience are what our schools need to continue the work we need to finish and improve in order to make South Whidbey School District in what Betty calls, a “world class school district where everyone is accountable.”

Our children’s learning successes are directly tied to a strong democracy and a strong business economy for all of us.

Vote for Betty Bond, Position 5, South Whidbey School Board.
