LETTER TO THE EDITOR | Diking district story had it right

To the editor:

Roy Jacobson’s article has it correct. The situation is that the three diking commissioners want to purchase a 6,000-gallon-per-minute pump that will drain the wet lands, cow pastures and some golf course lots so that they are all dry.

The polluted water from the cow pastures and the golf course will be dumped into Deer Lagoon and Useless Bay. Previous pumping has caused the disappearance of blue herons, fish and Dungeness crab. The dike commissioners own the land that is being pumped dry. We do not need a pump.

Oh, yes, one more thing, they want a few beach owners to pay $450,000 for the 6,000 gpm sucker.
