LETTER TO THE EDITOR | New Whidbey hospital name is a frivolous expense

New name is a frivolous expense Editor, The name WhidbeyHealth reminds me of a spa, not a hospital. What do you envision when you hear Swedish Health, Everett Health? I think of a possible spa. We are a hospital so let’s call us a hospital so no one makes a mistake. Road signs across the country say hospital with an arrow pointing in the right direction. Also, we do lots of things so we are a general hospital and I am proud that we serve everyone instead of a special few.

Editor,

The name WhidbeyHealth reminds me of a spa, not a hospital.

I am disappointed that you do not know the cost of the name change before presenting it to the public; it can be very high. I worked at the hospital for many years as director of the Rehabilitation Department and we went through several money crises. Why not save the money for the future needs and services for the people of Whidbey Island?

Sincerely,

STEVE HARADA
