To the editor:
The South Whidbey Children’s Center (SWCC) would like to thank everyone who supported our fundraiser held at “our house” at the main campus in Langley.
The theme for the event was “Spring Enchantment,” and we are truly enchanted with the generous backing, heartfelt support and good cheer shared by our community. Your generous donations will help replace our 30-year-old sandbox and other aging playground structures, repaint classrooms at both campuses and install energy-efficient windows.
A very special thank you goes to the Hess family for your generous donation. Thanks also to Randy Hudson for being a wonderful and entertaining emcee and auctioneer. Our gratitude to Randal Bays and Susan Waters for providing beautiful live music throughout the evening, and to David Licastro for loaning your sound system. We also send our appreciation to Mary Fisher of Cultus Bay Nursery and Jonni Reed, who created the beautiful flower arrangements.
And our utmost appreciation goes out to the SWCC’s founder, Mully Mullally, for sharing her kind words and continued support of our program.
Many local businesses and chefs donated delicious appetizers and beverages for the night: J.W. Desserts, Mukilteo Coffee, Useless Bay Coffee, Jess Dowdell, Café Langley and Prima Bistro. We thank you.
We would also like to thank the many wonderful artists, family members, friends and local businesses who, despite tough economic times, reached out to support us. Over 200 individuals and businesses donated items for auction. Thanks to both Georgia Gerber and to the Half Link Bike Shop for donating special items for raffle (and thanks to the many, many people who purchased tickets). Thanks to everyone who donated items for the live auction, especially Steve Shapiro and Debora Valis; Jonni and Dennis Reed of Reedesign; Tom Roland; the Inn at Langley; Prima Bistro; WICA; Willa Kveta Photography; Cary Jurriaans; Michael and Christine Kerley; Richard LaLonde; Pam and Don Horner; and Seth and Molly Layman.
Some of the many local businesses that supported the event include Asli Arts, AeroSpa@StudioA, Amanda Murphy Yoga, Anastasia Brencick Massage, Coastal Soul Construction, Eddy’s, Eric Tunnell, Hand and Foot Haven, Island Athletic Club, Island Pilates Center, JADE Craftsman Builders, Jean Steinbrecher Architects, Kenneth Philp Landscape Architects, LaVida Verde, Layman Window Cleaning, Raven Rocks Gallery, Matt’s Import Haven, One-to-One Personal Training, Sears Carpet and Air Duct Cleaning, Sheila DeLong State Farm Insurance, Sound Trap Studios, South Whidbey Pediatrics, Spa Essencia, the Color Box, the Wayward Son, Useless Bay Country Club and many, many more. (Please visit our Web site at www.swchildrenscenter.com to see the complete list.)
Thank you to our family and friends in the community who not only helped make the night a huge success, but support the center on a daily basis. We’re grateful for all that you do.
