LETTER TO THE EDITOR | Thanks for the story about Marley Erickson

Editor, We enjoyed your front page article, “Langley daughter to perform… ,”, but Marley’s teacher said, “There seems to be something in the water up in Langley.” Though we appreciate Langley water (Mira Yamamoto lives in Clinton) I want to give credit to the Suzuki method for starting students young, and for involving parents early on.

Editor,

We enjoyed your front page article, “Langley daughter to perform… ,”, but Marley’s teacher said, “There seems to be something in the water up in Langley.” Though we appreciate Langley water (Mira Yamamoto lives in Clinton) I want to give credit to the Suzuki method for starting students young, and for involving parents early on.

Gloria Ferry Brennan and Mira Yamamoto benefitted from Island teachers such as Kat Fritz, Talia Marcus, Michael Nutt, Kimmer Morris, Elizabeth Lovelace, Paula Pugh and the whole Island musical community, including the Saratoga Orchestra and the Community Orchestra. Whenever I start a new 3- or 4-year-old in our Pre-Twinkle program, I am grateful to Doctor Suzuki for his ground-breaking mother tongue method, and for the dedicated parents such as Erica Lewis and Rick Erickson. Island Strings students will be playing this month as part of Earth Day celebrations in Bayview, on April 23, from 1:30-2 p.m.

LINDA GOOD
