LETTER TO THE EDITOR | Volunteers helped hundreds

To the editor:

The IRS/AARP Tax Aide Program served more than 2 million taxpayers this year and we are proud of the Whidbey Island volunteers that represented our community.

Local AARP volunteers served more than 800 clients during the 10-week tax season in 2009. The volunteers spent 30 hours in training and then gave more than 1,548 hours preparing and e-filing federal tax returns.

Our grateful thanks to the Whidbey Island Team: Thomas Adams, Janell Baker, Ken Bishop, John Bolte, James Bruner, Judy Chittester, Richard Collins, Joanna Cruse, Tom Ellis, Winson Ewing, Roger Foley, Chuck Fye, Sharon Godfrey, George Haglund, John Howard, Edward Hueneke, Kurt Jaehning, Colleen Johnson, Michele Johnson, Karen Jones, Kristy Knickrehm, Michele Poirer, C. Theodora Rees, Madeline Rose, Bette Smith, Stella Tandecki, Edward Van Patten and Margaret Vasquez.
