LETTERS TO THE EDITOR | Defense shows leadership

When I “Pledge Allegiance to the Flag,” I get goose bumps. When I read Dr. Jo Moccia’s comments (The Record, Nov. 10) explaining “why iPads”, I also got goose bumps!

What verve, spunk and vigor she had in defending the school district’s forward thinking on how to educate our precious students! I saw real leadership and an excellent example of being a practitioner of the pedagogy of which she spoke; being sure we educate while preparing our students with the skills they will need to be successful.

Courage was shown by a lot of people in the district willing to improve how we educate. Although labeled an experiment per se, I suspect they would have liked to have given everyone in the school district an iPad. This action can not only improve our students’ learning, but more imperative, has the potential to create a new paradigm in how we learn and our ability to lead the way into tomorrow’s society.

Today, be sure you bring a pencil to class. Tomorrow, it will be your iPad.
