To the editor:

I was saddened to read the June 16 letter to the editor written by Rosemary Martin.

All of the nonprofits on Whidbey Island are to be thanked for the fine work they do for our community. There can be no ranking of one being more important than another. Each serves unique and important niches that enable us as community members to choose how we can contribute.

All of our nonprofits and all of us working together in these tight financial times create a sustainable community.
