Filmmakers and whale experts will be on hand at the Clyde Theatre this weekend as the movie house screens “The Whale” — a documentary about Luna, the young male orca who found his way solo to Nootka Sound in British Columbia, where he adopted some humans as his pod. The film is narrated by Ryan Reynolds.

The film will be shown Oct. 21-24, and on opening night, Michael Parfit and Suzanne Chisholm, who directed, shot, wrote and edited the film, will be at the Clyde to talk about Luna and the making of the film after the 7:30 p.m. Friday showing.

Orca Network naturalists and whale experts Susan Berta and Howard Garrett will also be at the theater after both the 5 and 7:30 p.m. shows on Saturday, Oct. 22 to answer questions about whale behavior.

“The Whale” opened to rave reviews after a successful run on the festival circuit, and has been garnering awards and great reviews from the critics (the New York Times lists it as a Critic’s Choice).
