The 12th annual Whidbey Jazz Concert, featuring all six middle school and high school jazz bands and ensembles from South Whidbey, Coupeville and Oak Harbor, will be held at 7:30 p.m. Friday, March 11 in the South Whidbey High School auditorium.
The showcase of local jazz talent will feature the music of the Langley Middle School’s jazz band directed by Jessica Foley, Coupeville’s Middle/High School band with director Jessica Barker, Oak Harbor Middle School band, under the direction of past scholarship winner Patrick Manuel, the North Whidbey Middle School band directed by Jamar Jenkins, Oak Harbor High School band under the direction of Bruce Lantz, and South Whidbey’s award-winning jazz band, led by Chris Harshman.
Tickets are $7 and are available at Boomerang at Ken’s Korner in Clinton; the South Whidbey Commons in Langley; Timbuktu Coffee House, next to Texaco in Freeland; and Click Music in Oak Harbor.
The SWHS Jazz Ensemble will also perform at 7:30 p.m. Sunday, March 13 at Whidbey Island Center for the Arts as part of the Local Artists series.
