Time is winding down to buy tickets for a Scandinavian holiday feast.

Time is winding down to buy tickets for a Scandinavian holiday feast.

The Whidbey Island Nordic Lodge will host its 3rd annual lutefisk and meatball dinner in a few weeks, and tickets are only available until Tuesday, Jan. 10. Brian Petersen, the lodge’s lutefisk chairperson, said that one need not be a lodge member to attend; all members of the public are invited.

The dinner will take place on Saturday, Jan. 28 at the Nordic Hall, located at 63 Jacobs Road in Coupeville. There will be seatings at noon, 2 p.m. and 4 p.m., plus takeout options available at those same times.

Petersen said the dinner, which the lodge last served in 2019, is a traditional Nordic spread consisting of lutefisk, a dried cod cured in lye; potatoes; meatballs with gravy; a vegetable; coleslaw; pickled herring; lefse, a soft, Norwegian flatbread; and a beverage. Riskrem, a traditional rice pudding, will follow for dessert. The meal is typically enjoyed around the Christmas season.

The Nordic Lodge members will be joined by the Ester Moe chapter of the Daughters of Norway in preparing and serving the meal. Tickets are available online at tix.com — simply search for “Whidbey Island Nordic Lodge” — or by order form with cash or check. Order forms can be found online at whidbeyislandnordiclodge.com. Tickets to this event will not be sold at the door.
