Time to plan 4th of July parade floats

The Independence Day tradition continues with the return of the Maxwelton 4th of July parade. The time is now to plan floats or other entries to participate in the parade, which is in its 106th year.

Registration for participants in the parade, which is free, begins at 10:30 a.m. on the corner of Swede Hill and Maxwelton roads. Parking is available at Dave Mackie Park and Cascadia Meadows at the Little Brown Church, where a free shuttle to the parade route will run from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Handicap parking will be available in the small lot adjacent to Dave Mackie Park. Parking assistance will be available.

The 2023 Grand Marshalls are B.J. and Dave Hoogerwerf. The Hoogerwerfs are active community members and longtime organizers of the Maxwelton Parade.

The parade starts at noon, led by an Honor Guard and ending at Dave Mackie Park. Following the parade at Dave Mackie Park, there will be a flag-raising ceremony and the National Anthem will be performed by Danny Ward. Stay and participate in the egg toss, sack races and other classic field games for the whole family. Food, T-shirts and the popular commemorative buttons will be available for purchase before and after the parade.

The Maxwelton Parade is presented 100% through the efforts of community volunteers and sponsors.
