Candidate extolls ‘Experience, Integrity and Compassion’

Unlike the other races, only one candidate is running for Position 2 on the Langley City Council.

Unlike the other races, there is only one candidate running for Position 2 on the Langley City Council.

Rhonda Salerno is set to occupy the seat in 2022. The incumbent, Dominique Emerson, decided not to seek re-election this year.

Salerno is currently the chairperson of the city’s Planning Advisory Board and a member of the newly formed ad-hoc Climate Crisis Action Committee. Through her involvement with the city, she has helped revise Langley’s Comprehensive Plan land use element twice and has contributed to ordinances addressing affordable housing.

Most recently, she coordinated an affordable housing working group that planned two community meetings.

“My three descriptive words are ‘Experience, Integrity and Compassion’ and I would like people to know that I commit to being a positive force in my city government, working hard and spreading love,” she said.

She has committed to running a zero-waste campaign, with the plan of repurposing old signs from past campaigns of others.
