Celtic singer performs benefit concert

“Barbara Dunn will sing original and traditional Celtic tunes at The Smilin’ Dog Cafe on Saturday, Jan. 29 at 8 p.m., in a benefit for the Whidbey AIDS Support Fund. Dunn’s brings a blend of eclectic folk music to the stage, accompanying her own voice with guitar or piano/synthesizer. There may even be opportunities for the audience to join the singing.Some of Dunn’s original songs have been inspired by her work as a music therapist. For the past five years, she has worked at the Bailey Boushay House in Seattle, a nursing facility for persons with AIDS. In this setting she often uses her voice to help others transcend pain or communicate with loved ones or simply escape from their illness through music.All proceeds from the suggested donation of $5-$10 at the door will go to WASF, the local organization that provides prevention education funding, support and emergency financial assistance to HIV/AIDS clients living in Island County. I am delighted to connect Barbara’s singer/songwriter talent with our organization, said Issy Olivia, WASF coordinator.
