The Port of South Whidbey announced this week that it has closed the Clinton Dock due to damage sustained in this past winter’s storms.

It’s unclear when it will reopen, but port staff are working to address the problems.

“We are working to find solutions to bring the dock back into service as soon as possible,” the district said in a Wednesday announcement. “The park and pier remain open.”

Several other changes were announced as well. The Bush Point and Possession Beach boarding floats were recently installed for the season, and the port will begin taking reservations for crabbing spots on the new floats, docks “D” and “E,” at South Whidbey Harbor.

The sign up process begins at 9 a.m. Friday, May 13. Reservations must be made in person at the Harbormaster’s Office, located at 228 Wharf St. in Langley.

Applicants must bring identification, be at least 18 and agree to follow both Harbor regulations and state crabbing rules. Crabbing spots may be reserved for up to two weeks per month.

Crabbing from the elevated fishing pier does not require a reservation.
