Clinton Friends collect treasures for annual sale

"The Clinton Friends of the Library group will hold its annual rummage sale Saturday, July 1, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Bayview Hall."

“The Friends are hoping to raise a substantial portion of the Clinton community’s share of funds needed to support the ongoing activity of the library.Rummage is being collected in the garage of sale chairperson (and Rummage Queen) Sally Benum, who has removed the cars normally resident there to allow room for the influx of items. Friends volunteers with pickup trucks are taking turns from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. each Saturday in June collecting items in front of the library. Volunteers will pick up items from anyone who is unable to bring things to the library. Benum now spends nearly all non-working hours out in the garage sorting rummage. Other Friends members will soon assist in pricing items. Early on the morning of the sale, everything will be shuttled from the garage to the Hall and set up for the sale. As the Friends cannot get in early, they are unable to accept major appliances or large pieces of furniture. Some observations that might interest the public include:* No rummage sale is complete without at least three pieces of exercise equipment; the Friends have theirs.* Orange is a popular color for items donated to rummage sales. There may be sociological significance to this fact.* The Friends have collected the following unusual items so far: a new Sonics jacket (never been worn); a stainless steel veterinary tool for neutering bull calves; a complete set of collectible China wolf plates; a small chainsaw; two cages for hamsters or other rodents; a set of pewter sherbet dishes; an aquarium.Rummage, helping hands and shoppers are all needed. Call 341-4614 for information or to volunteer.”
