Community planning of Second Street design begins tonight

Langley has begun the design process for the renovation of Second Street and is seeking the public's help. A series of meetings will take place next week to gather public input on the project. All meetings will be held in Fellowship Hall at the Methodist Church on 301 Anthes Ave.

Langley has begun the design process for the renovation of Second Street and is seeking the public’s help.

A series of meetings will take place, beginning tonight, to gather public input on the project. All meetings will be held in Fellowship Hall at the Methodist Church on 301 Anthes Ave.

The schedule is as follows.

Kick-off event: 6 p.m. Tuesday, June 12.

Design workshops: 9 to 11 a.m. and 1 to 5 p.m. Wednesday, June 13. A walking tour will be conducted at 10 a.m.

Wrap up: 10 a.m. Thursday, June 14.

The Second Street project incorporates the area between Anthes Avenue and Cascade Avenue. The goals are to enhance the street for commercial businesses, community activities, pedestrian friendliness, commercial delivery access, parking and “wayfinding,” while also upgrading stormwater utilities, investigating low impact design treatments and identifying future public art locations.
