A South End man was apparently uninjured when his pickup truck went off the road north of Clinton on Wednesday afternoon and rolled over onto its side, officials said.

The mishap occurred about 4 p.m. on Surface Road north of Bob Galbreath Road, said Island County Fire District 3 Deputy Chief Jon Beck.

Beck said the driver, described as elderly, was traveling north on a curved section of Surface Road when he apparently lost control of his Ford Ranger pickup, which left the roadway, climbed a bank, hit a tree and rolled over onto the driver’s side.

Beck said emergency crews broke the rear window of the pickup’s cab, managed to open the passenger door and helped the driver out of the vehicle.

He said the man declined medical assistance.
