“An Easter Vigil service will take place at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 22, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Freeland, jointly sponsored by St. Augustine’s Episcopal, Langley United Methodist, St. Peter’s Lutheran and Trinity Lutheran.. Based on the ancient Eve of Easter Worship of the early church, the service will include the outdoor lighting of the new fire, candle-lighting, reading of scripture and songs, a renewal of baptism commitment, the first Easter hymn and the first Easter Lord’s Supper. Participants are invited to bring bells to ring during the singing. A Sunrise Service will be held at 7 a.m. on Easter morning, followed by a festive Easter celebration at 9 and 11 a.m. The church will have an Easter breakfast from 8-10:30 a.m. and an Easter egg hunt at 10:15.On Holy Saturday at St. Hubert Catholic Church in Langley, an easter Vigil Mass begins at 9 p.m. The Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated on Easter Sunday at 8 a.m. and 10:30 a.m.A 9 a.m. service on Easter morning at Langley United Methodist Church begins in the darkness of the tomb, when the church children will help recollect the events of the preceding week.
