Around 4:47 p.m. on Dec. 10, South Whidbey Fire/EMS responded to a Guemes Avenue address in the Scatchet Head community. According to a social media post from the fire department, it took only 10 minutes to extinguish the fire.

Division Chief Joseph Dilley said the fire’s cause was believed to be electrical in nature. The shed, which was unoccupied at the time of the fire, was a total loss.

Deputy Chief Jon Beck said the homeowner was alerted to a problem as “popping” circuit breakers in the shed tripped. He estimated property loss to be $15,000 and contents to be $10,000.

According to the report on the incident, a missing dog was located hiding underneath a neighbor’s deck.
