Langley Main Street Association and the Langley Community Club will host the second annual community feast next week.

The event is 5:30-8 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 9 in the plaza on Second Street. Attendees are asked to bring a potluck dish, enough to feed three. Everything else will be provided; the community club will have treats from Whidbey Island Ice Cream.

The plaza area in front of Callahan’s Fire House will be closed to vehicular traffic and filled with tables and chairs for seating. The rest of Second Street will remain open so parking is available. Additional parking can be found in the park-and-ride area on Third Street, at the Langley United Methodist Church and Island Church parking lots.

This is the second annual event, first initiated by Sarah Boin, as a way to bring the community together for a celebration.

“Potlucks are always a great way to bring a bunch of people together, while giving them a common bond — food,” Boin said. “It is my hope that the Second Street Community Feast is a joyful event for our community, one that everyone is reluctant to leave but when they do it is with a full belly and joyful hearts.”
