The Genealogical Society of South Whidbey Island welcomes professional genealogist Steven Morrison on Nov. 11-12 at Clinton Community Hall.

Morrison will lead a free session at 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 11 called “Outlaw Genealogy.”

Fed up with working family lines which are “tight as a tick”? Stop treating them like family and start tracking them like outlaws and learn how to use standard genealogical techniques to pick up the trail.

From 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 12, the day starts with “Peopling The British Isles – Genetic Origins of Ireland, Wales, Scotland and England.” This presentation is based upon the recent book by University of Oxford professor Stephen Oppenheimer “The Origins of the British” (2006). Learn what new genetic discoveries DNA has uncovered about your ancestors from the British Isles.

“Detours Around – Irish Roadblocks and Stone Walls” will detail how to get around 10 of Ireland’s top roadblocks and stone walls.

“Irish Research Trip – Belfast, Dublin or Salt Lake City?” will lay out the pros and cons of each Irish repository for three research questions, with an emphasis on feasible alternatives to an international plane ticket.

“Irish Roots – Jeopardy” will follow the format of the popular TV quiz show.
