On Wednesday, May 23, at 7 p.m. a video presentation and discussion on contemporary Israel-Palestine will be held at St. Augustine’s-in-the-Woods. The public is invited to attend this event sponsored by the St. Augustine’s Episcopal Peace Fellowship. The church is located at 5217 S. Honeymoon Bay Road in Freeland.

This Ken Burns style movie, “Living Stones: Children of Abraham in Tension,” featuring photos taken in a 2008 Holy Land pilgrimage, analyzes the current situation in Israel-Palestine from a Palestinian Christian perspective. The photos feature people of the Holy Land (the Living Stones) and conditions under which they live. The participants in the 2008 pilgrimage led by Rev. Nigel Tabor-Hamilton were housed at St. George’s Anglican Cathedral in Palestinian East Jerusalem.

The video has narration and will be accompanied with a study guide and group discussion. Topics featured are the history of the Jewish, Christian and Islamic people in the Holy Land, post 1947 military/political history, contemporary religion in the Holy Land, the theology of land and the ever present “Separation Wall.”
