Freeland July 3rd fireworks show in need of community financial support

Freeland’s annual July 3rd Celebrate America event is on track, but as always organizers are hunting for financial support. Funded with community contributions and sponsorships, the $35,000 budget for the event is not covered, according to Matt Chambers, a lead organizer. “The event only happens because hundreds of people give small and large amounts to support the event,” said Chambers in a recent news release.

This year is the 22nd Celebrate America. Held at Freeland Park, the event will include the traditional kid’s bouncy games, food vendors and live entertainment — the lineup includes Cranberry Bog Bluegrass Band, Straighter Road and Hair Nation.

The fireworks show begins at 10:30 p.m., and will be discharged from a Nichols Brothers Boat Builders barge moored in Holmes Harbor.
