The outdoor burn ban will be lifted for all of the unincorporated areas of Island County at 8 a.m., Monday, Sept. 21, the Island County Sheriff’s Office announced Friday.

This decision was made by the Island County Fire Marshal’s Office in conjunction with Skagit and Whatcom counties and the Washington State Department of Natural Resources.

Outdoor burning has been banned in the county since July 30. The prohibition on recreational and cooking fires in approved fire pits was lifted by Sheriff Mark Brown, who also serves as the county’s fire marshal, on Sept. 4.
