Enjoy hors d’oeuvres and meet the teachers and health practitioners from 5-7 p.m., and stay for a free performance by Churchill from 7:30-8:30. There will be a performance party from 9-11.Churchill, a professional entertainer, is best known locally for his blend of character monologue, song and dance in unique one-man shows. He trained at the American Musical and Dramatic Academy in New York City and has performed in in New York, Chicago, San Francisco and Seattle. He recently earned his yoga teacher’s certification from the Sivanada Yoga and Vedanta Centers International. Churchill will offer lessons at HATS in yoga, meditation, poetry, acting and original monologues for teens and adults. Weekend workshops will be available, along with original theater and music groups.Other practitioners at HATS will include Gennie Yacono with a variety of classes in mime, collage art, modeling for teen girls, silent theater for preteens, beginning ballet and tap, and others; Norma Jean, offering reiki and Singing You sessions; Laurie Keith with a massage workshop for couples; Faith Bushby, teaching Integrated Awareness; and Tom Churchill, workshopping his newest play with an involved audience. There is still a room at the center for a massage practitioner, Churchill said.I hope to encourage the correlation between the physical and the emotional body with HATS, Churchill said. Because anything stuck emotionally turns into something stuck physically until it’s expressed. The Healing Arts Theater Studio is a small blue house located at 5062 S. Hodges, at the corner of Hodges and Lunberg near Wilkinson Road just out of Langley. Call 221-8748 with any questions.”
