Bringing a business boom to Langley is the top priority for city leaders this year.

The Langley City Council will meet from 1 to 3 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 23, to discuss economic development at City Hall, 112 Second St.

Mayor Fred McCarthy presented a three-point approach to economic development: employment, business development, and capital projects. The plan includes bringing people into the city to work, including those who are able to do their jobs remotely — dubbed “knowledge workers.” One part of the business development goal is to have Langley shops commit to maintaining a physical presence in town and an online presence, including social media training.
