Langley firehouse seeks lease extension

A successful business owner wants to stick around a little longer in Langley.

To do so, Callahan’s Firehouse Studio and Gallery owner Callahan McVay is requesting the city extend its lease with him an additional five years. The artist and entrepreneur opened the shop in what used to be the city’s fire station on Second Street in 2009.

Since then, his business has become a shining success. McVay, seeking permanence and an investment, offered to buy the building in 2015 but the city opted to retain possession.

The Langley City Council will consider the five-year lease extension at its regular meeting at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 16 at city hall.

If approved, the lease would run through 2023.
