Langley hosts tree lighting today

The Village by the Sea will get into the holiday spirit today with the Lighting of Langley.

The Village by the Sea will get into the holiday spirit today with the Lighting of Langley.

The community is invited to join fellow carolers in Langley Park, at the corner of Second Street and Anthes Avenue, for the annual art tree lighting at 4 p.m.

Vern Olsen will provide the music, and the entertainment includes performances by actors from Whidbey Children’s Theater and Whidbey Island Center for the Arts. Santa and his pack of “Rein-alpacas” will also make an appearance.

Local 4-H’ers will be at the park with warm cider and hot chocolate.

Langley’s holiday parade is planned for 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 3.

Following the parade, children and their families are invited to watch “A Christmas Story” at 1 p.m. at the Clyde Theatre, compliments of the Clyde and Wellington Day School. Admission is free and donations of canned food will be accepted at the door for Good Cheer Food Bank.
