Jessica Monett, Langley Middle School band teacher, said the concert is an excellent fundraising opportunity for the band. Funds will go towards trips, scholarships, registration fees for band festivals, equipment and sectionals led by professionals throughout the year.

“I find the more performance opportunities students receive, the higher level of musicianship and self-confidence they gain from their experience on stage,” Monett wrote in an email to The Record. “I record every performance for the students to hear and discuss, and this is truly where the learning and growth takes place as a musician. I also believe it’s very important to have fun while making music and the Creepy Concert is a perfect example.”

Monett explained that the students particularly enjoy the Halloween concert because of the opportunity they have to select spooky tunes from the band library. They’re also encouraged to find or design their own creative costumes to wear during the performance.

Admission is $5, kids in costume may enter for free.
