Make a dessert with a Girl Scout Cookie

“This Sunday, March 12, is the last day of the Girl Scout Cookie sale. If you already have your cookies, you may want to try one of the dessert recipes that have been collected by Little Brownie Bakers (official Girl Scout cookie bakers). Since the 1930s, people have been baking with Girl Scout cookies — one of America’s favorite treats. A tradition for the past 70 years, Girl Scout cookie recipes from all over the United States have brought many people together to enjoy an old thing in a new way.Following is a recipe made with a Girl Scout cookie that is sure to bring a smile to anyone’s lips. More recipes can be found on the Totem Council Girl Scout Web site at www.girlscoutstotem.org.Girl Scout Apple Bars2 cups oatmeal1 1/2 cups flour1 cup chopped pecans2 cups brown sugar1 tsp. baking soda1 cup margarine (melted)1 cup M & M’s1 small can sweetened condensed milk1 cup Apple Cinammon cookies (finely crushed)Mix first 5 ingredients. Add margarine and mix until crumbly. Reserve 1 1/2 cups of mix and add M & M’s. Press remaining crumb mixture into greased pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 12 minutes. Combine condensed milk and cookie crumbs. Spread over baked crust. Top with crumb/candy mixture. Bake for 18 minutes.”
