As many as five seats on the Island County Marine Resources Committee will be open for appointment or re-appointment effective Dec. 31.

The Board of County Commissioners invites applicants from Whidbey and Camano islands to express interest and request appointment.

Members of this voluntary, advisory committee serve a three-year term. The 16-member committee meets the first and third Tuesday afternoons of each month in the Board of County Commissioners Hearing Room (Room 102B Basement), Island County Annex Building, 1 N.E. Sixth St., Coupeville. More information on the MRC can be obtained on the website at www.island

Three committee members will complete their terms of service at the end of the year. They may be re-appointed or replaced at the pleasure of the commissioners. One position representing commercial interests is currently vacant and may be filled if a qualified applicant is found. Members whose terms are expiring represent ports, commercial interests as well as a member at large, a seat that represents all of Island County.
