“A former Clinton massage therapist accused of rape two years ago will not be able to legally practice his profession for the next 10 years.Patrick Tracy, 51, a former Clinton resident, lost his lawful massage privileges for a decade last week when the state’s top massage therapy official barred him from re-applying for a professional license. Tracy was charged in Island County Superior Court two years ago with third-degree rape and attempted rape. During a trial last year, he made an Alford plea on both charges. In taking the Alford plea, Tracy did not admit his guilt, but agreed that there is a substantial likelihood he would be found guilty following a trial.Now living in Everett after serving six months in the Island County Jail, Tracy is currently under community supervision. Washington’s Secretary of Health for the state’s Massage Therapy Program added belatedly to that punishment by barring Tracy from re-applying for his massage license for the next 10 years. In addition, Tracy is also permanently registered as a Level 2 sex offender.According to the Department of Corrections’ pre-sentence investigation report – which is required before a sex offender is sentenced – Tracy told his victims that he was a certified massage therapist and offered them massages in his home. He raped and forcibly sodomized a friend while giving her a massage on Sept. 23, 1997. Earlier that year, he attempted to rape a 21-year-old Tai Chi student during another massage session.In a report concerning Tracy’s actions, state Corrections Officer John Nolte wrote that Tracy did not understand that his victims had not consented to sex. The report also stated that Tracy has developed a pattern of isolating and attempting to take advantage of the women he desires.Tracy was barred from performing massages on any females as a condition of his community supervision.
