“Whidbey Island Naval Air Station invites the public to attend a service to remember America’s Prisoners of Wars and Missing in Action (POWs/MIAs) on Friday, Sept. 8 at 2 p.m. at the Prowler Memorial on Ault Field.Three sons of Vietnam combat aviators will fly in the Missing Man formation. They ar Lt. Cmdr. Mike McKenna, Capt. Mike Grischkowski and Lt. Brian Danielson. All three are instructors at Electronic Attack Squadron 129, the Fleet Readiness Squadron that trains EA-6B pilots and electronic countermeasure officers.The ceremony will include guest speakers, U.S. Marine Corps Color Guard and the playing of Taps.Although Sept. 15 is the official observance of National POW/MIA Recognition Day, this ceremony on Sept. 8 will mark the beginning of this time of remembrance. On Sept. 15, citizens should display their U.S. Flags, as well as on Sept. 17, Constitution Day. “
