South Enders to see St. John’s Bible

The manuscript of St. John’s Bible is on display at the Tacoma Art Museum, and a private guided tour is being organized at the Bayview Senior Center for a bus trip to the museum.

The manuscript is the only handwritten and illuminated Bible commissioned since the advent of the printing press more then 500 years ago. In creating the St. John’s Bible, Donald Jackson, world-renowned calligrapher and his crew, using quills and paints hand-ground from precious minerals and stones, followed the tradition of medieval manuscripts.

The trip will be Thursday, July 31. There is a sign-up sheet at the Bayview Senior Center, but only a few places are left. Call 321-1600 or 360-678-3373 for more details.
