Langley has received $15,000 to help preserve its history.

Planning Director Larry Cort said the city recently received $6,000 from Island County for historic preservation projects. That will be added to $9,000 in similar funds received from the state to conduct a survey of 60 historic properties in the city.

Cort said the money will be used to hire a person to coordinate the effort, and for two public workshops on historic preservation.

The project is expected to begin Oct. 1.
