Some needed renovations may be in store at Possession Beach Waterfront Park.

The Port of South Whidbey-owned property may get a new ramp in a few years. Commissioners hope to get funding through grants by 2016 for the work.

Until then, the port district will seek an environmental engineer’s advice on how to best design any renovations to streamline the approval process with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.

“I think it’s important we find some people locally who know the issues here,” said Commissioner Dennis Gregoire.

All three commissioners voted unanimously to send out the port’s request for proposal for consultant services.
