School board meets Monday

The South Whidbey School Board will begin its new tradition of meeting on Monday beginning July 24

“The South Whidbey School Board will begin its new tradition of meeting on Monday beginning July 24.The five-member board approved the change in the spring, citing the light schedule of school activities on Monday evenings. The prior meeting day of Tuesday is a busy one for sports, in particular. Now, board members have a better chance of seeing their children or grandchildren on the field or in the concert hall. Also, the theory was, Monday may be a better day for parents and school employees to attend meetings.Monday’s meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. Martin Laster, the new Superintendent of Schools, will be given the oath of office. Among other business, John Willson will present a survey of high school graduates, primary school principal Bernie Mahar will report on second grade reading scores, and high school vice principal Doug Hale will talk about his school’s attendance policy.”
