“Locals graduate from Disney CollegeTina King, Joanne Presher and Debbie North, who all work for Freeland Travel in Freeland Plaza, have joined the ranks of 40,000 in the travel industry who have graduated from the College of Disney Knowledge.The trio now become Disney Specialists, which indicates a special knowledge of the Walt Disney World Resort, Disneyland, the Disney Cruise Line, and the Disney Institute.“The college of Disney Knowledge course has been very beneficial to me,” said King. “It brought me up to date with the latest attractions and increased my knowledge about all the Disney resorts.”Thai restaurant open in LangleyReunthai, a Thai restaurant, has opened in Langley at 630 B Second Street, in the old Langley Building Supply building.The restaurant is owned and operated by Boonruen and Richard Readshaw. Boonruen is a native of Bangkok, Thailand, and is the cook at the restaurant.Hours are 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday. Call 221-2404 for more information.IAC satisfies its customers.Island Athletic Club in Freeland is the first business of its kind in the Northwest to earn the Valuestar certified symbol of “very high customer satisfaction.”Jim Stein, managing director of Valuestar, said the rigorous rating process includes passing a license audit, complaint bureau investigation, insurance verification, and independent customer satisfaction survey.According to Valuestar, out of 200 businesses in the Northwest who have gone through the customer satisfaction rating process, only 80 have passed the test.Dermatologist to leave FreelandRita Lloyd, M.D., is wrapping up her dermatology practice in Freeland and preparing to move to Madison, Wisconsin to join a group medical practice and be closer to her family. She will not accept appointments here after Oct. 28.However, Freeland will not be without a dermatologist. Dr. Russell Johnson will open his practice at the same location, 1705 E. Main St., and begin accepting appointments in January. He will be relocating to Whidbey Island from St. Louis, Missouri.Sno-Isle under new leadership.Sno-Isle Regional Library has a new executive director in the form of Arthur Weeks, who will assume his duties Nov. 15.Weeks was hired this week by the Board of Trustees. He will replace long-time director Tom Mayer, who retired earlier this year.Weeks is currently executive director for the Finger Lakes Library System in New York, which consists of 29 member libraries and other facilities.Sno-Isle serves more than 550,000 residents in Snohomish and Island counties.Agent earns designationJim Sparling, a sales associate at Windermere Real Estate’s Freeland office, recently earned the Seniors Real Estate Specialist designation.The SRES designation results from special training to address the special issues and needs of senior property owners.
