“An unidentified man whose body washed ashore near Freeland Friday afternoon is still without a name.The 5-foot, 7-inch, 128-pound man may have washed onto the island after a ride aboard the Seattle-Vashon ferry, according to evidence discovered by the Island County Sheriff’s Department. Sheriff’s personnel found a ticket for the 7:44 p.m., Oct. 4 ferry run in the man’s pocket after his corpse was discovered on the beach near Windmill Lane on Admiralty Inlet.But, at this point, the sheriff’s department still does not know the man’s cause of death. Island County Coroner Dr. Robert Bishop reported that the 30 to 45-year-old man’s body showed no obvious signs of violence, but further information about the cause of death is being withheld pending notification of family members.The coroner and the sheriff’s office are asking that persons who may know the man’s identity or who have other information, including any unusual activity aboard the Seattle-Vashon ferry on Oct. 4, call ICOM at (360) 679-9567.The man is described being of slender build, clean shaven, with light brown hair with a receding hairline. He was dressed in blue jeans, worn black Converse “All Star” high-top tennis shoes, and a white t-shirt that bore printing on the left chest reading “Starbucks Run for the Beach 1996.” He was also wearing a heavy green plaid button-up shirt. He was a right-handed tobacco smoker.There is a faded blue tattoo on his left forearm above the wrist, approximately 1 inch by 1 inch, that has the letters “BS” over a bar or line, under which there is the number 7. A tattoo on his right bicep is an eagle in front of the sun. He has two abdominal scars, was not wearing jewelry, and did not have any pierced body parts. He was not carrying any identification.The sheriff’s office notes there are no local reports of missing persons matching the man’s description.”
