South Whidbey port officials to talk about hiring new financial manager

Port of South Whidbey officials will meet this afternoon to review application packets for a new financial manager for the district.

Port of South Whidbey officials will meet this afternoon to review application packets for a new financial manager for the district.

The port’s current financial manager, Dane Anderson, has told port commissioners that he’s seeking a job elsewhere.

“He’s tendered his resignation, so he’s moving on,” said Port Commissioner Geoff Tapert.

The split is amicable. Anderson has agreed to stay on until a new hire has been found and to help with the transition, Tapert said.

The port has advertised for the position, which has a salary range of $62,400 to $72,800, and Tapert said he would meet with other non-elected port officials Thursday afternoon to review applications.

The port board is expected to make a decision on filling the position at its meeting on Tuesday, Aug. 9.

Tapert said the board will likely talk about the qualifications of the applicants during a closed-door executive session, then return to a public session to make a hiring decision.
