South Whidbey School Board to decide on student rep

South Whidbey School District Board of Directors will hear today from six students who are seeking to represent their peers on the board for the 2014-2015 school year. Candidates include Macey Bishop, Reganne Brown‚ Emma Lungren, Anna Lynch, Kara Mead and Sophia Stoughton.

South Whidbey School District Board of Directors will hear today from six students who are seeking to represent their peers on the board for the 2014-2015 school year.

Candidates include Macey Bishop, Reganne Brown‚ Emma Lungren, Anna Lynch, Kara Mead and Sophia Stoughton.

The board will go into executive session to evaluate each candidate for the position and select a representative for the school year, which is currently held by outgoing senior Sydney Ackerman.

The board will begin interviews at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 14 in the community room at South Whidbey Elementary School, 5380 Maxwelton Road, Langley. Following the interviews is a special meeting at 6:30 p.m. and a workshop at 6:45 p.m. at the same location.

During the special meeting the board will discuss capital expenditures including improvements to the middle school gym sound reinforcement system and the multipurpose room A/V system. The board will also review a proposal from A-1 Mobile Lock and Key to install security entry systems at the high school, middle school and elementary school.
