“The South Whidbey Little League Red Sox reached the pinnacle of success for their fourth consecutive year Monday with a 12-2 win over Burlington in the Tournament of Champions.Starting pitcher Brady Switzer went three innings while giving up 2 runs on 4 hits. Chris Paterson went the last three, giving up no runs on only 1 hit.The Sox stole 11 bases while catcher Chris Hahn held the opponents to just one steal. As in earlier games, the Sox defense was superb. Adam Jennings made two outstanding plays at second base and Ben Miller made a great catch in left field to keep the visiting team from scoring. At the plate, Brady Switzer, Danny Mulcahy, Chris Paterson and Adam Jennings all collected 2 hits apiece.Although this was the Sox’ fourth Tournament of Champions victory in a row, only two players from the team had ever been on a team to win this tournament in the past. Switzer was with the Sox the last two years while Hern has been with the team all four years. The team is coached by Brad Jaeger and Jim Davis.Next up for the Sox will be the All Star tournament in July.”
