The island-wide Toys for Tots program run by Maj. Megan McClung Marine Corps League Detachment 1210 recently delivered a heap of toys to the 12th annual Holiday House for families struggling through financial troubles.
Retired Marines and members of the detachment Ed Donery and Tom Keltner collected and presented over 140 toys for boys, girls, and infants, while also delivering over three dozen perfume and art sets for girls and boys.
In all, 55 various toys for boys, 80 various toys for girls, 10 various toys for infants or toddlers, two cases of Ron Hubbard books, 15 large perfume sets, 13 large art sets for boys, and 13 large art sets for girls were delivered.
The toys included footballs, basketballs, remote control helicopters, and skateboards, while other items included stocking stuffers, personal FM radios, watches, wallets and binoculars.
Toys for Tots collected donations from 20 locations on South Whidbey, including the Island Athletic Club, Sebo’s Do-it Center, Wells Fargo Bank in Clinton and Freeland, Cozy’s Roadhouse, and Useless Bay Coffee Company.
