The man suspected of stabbing another man multiple times in Clinton turned  himself in at 2:15 Monday at the Island County Jail.

Island County Sheriff’s Detective Ed Wallace said Kamren Adams, 21, turned himself in to authorities only a few hours after his picture was posted on news websites, including the South Whidbey Record’s.

The victim, identified Monday afternoon as Justin Hilleary, 34, was initially listed in critical condition at an Everett area hospital but his condition was upgraded today to stable.

Wallace met with Hilleary at the hospital Monday morning and said he was “doing fine,” and able to speak.

The detective would not release any possible motive for the altercation at this time.

Adams will make his first court appearance in Island County Superior Court at 1:15 p.m. Tuesday, April 16.

Wallace said that the altercation occurred at an apartment complex off Wilson Road in Clinton. Hilleary was stabbed multiple times, Wallace said.

According to the incident report put out by the Sheriff’s Office, at least one of the wounds was a cut to the throat. The 911 call made by friends came in at 12:02 a.m. Sunday.

The suspect, Adams, fled the scene but later decided to turn himself in.

Wallace expressed certainty that the Sheriff’s Office has the right man in custody. The weapon used in the attack has not yet been recovered, he added.
