What’s up this month at the Family Resource Center

July 2008

July 2008

The lazy days of summer are here; for some of us, anyway!

We hope you and your family have fun and restful activities planned over vacation.

Summer Tutor School

We have organized a cost-free summer tutoring program this year! It is sponsored by the Readiness To Learn Foundation in collaboration with Anne Chambers, Learning Partners

Program director at Langley Middle School.

Classes for review in math and reading, targeting fourth through sixth grades, will take place at Langley Middle School. The dates are Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays on July 29, 30, 31 and Aug. 5, 6, 7, 19, 20 and 21 from

9 to 11 a.m.

We will end class time by providing sack lunches prepared by Whidbey Island Nourishes. The kids may have a picnic lunch outside afterward or take them home.

If this is something you are interested in please call the Family Resource Center at 221-6808, ext. 4602 to sign up. For questions call Anne Chambers at 222-3059. Space is limited, so call soon. It’ll be fun!

Volunteer

of the Month

Our July volunteer of the month is Diane Watson.

Diane is a Readiness To Learn Foundation board member and great volunteer.

There isn’t anything Diane can’t tackle. She is seriously enthusiastic about everything she does.

Diane was an outstanding volunteer for our box lunch fundraiser this year. She worked on several facets of the event from sponsor donations to assembling the sandwiches and was a joy to work with. Diane’s background and experience is such a bonus for our organization.

We thank you Diane, for staying connected to us in our community, even after “retirement!”

We are currently seeking volunteers for projects such as our upcoming Back-To-School Project, weekly office support, elementary-aged tutoring, and much more. Please call or stop by for more information. Thank you!
