The National Weather Service office in Seattle has issued a wind advisory that will be in effect from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 24.

The advisory includes the Admiralty Inlet area, and officials said the “high wind watch” is no longer in effect.

A “wind advisory” is issued when sustained winds of 30 to 39 mph or gusts of 45 to 57 mph are likely. According to the National Weather Service, winds of that velocity can topple small or shallow-rooted trees and cause power outages.

Winds from the south to southeast from 25 to 35 mph are expected Thursday, with gusts up to 55 mph possible.

The strong winds are expected to peak in the afternoon.
