Denis Archer

Denis William Archer of Bellevue passed away Friday, April 23, 2010 at Overlake Hospital Medical Center in Bellevue. He was 79.

Denis was born June 5, 1930 in Guernsey to Arthur and Elise Archer. He was raised in Guernsey, where he attended local schools. During World War II he was evacuated to England, and in 1946 he earned his Senior Oxford Degree at Shrigley College in Macclesfield, England.

On Sept. 24, 1955 he married Eileen Athy at St. Joseph’s Church, St. Peter Port, Guernsey, Channel Islands. They lived and worked in Great Britain until 1980, when they moved to Chicago, Ill.

Denis and Eileen lived in several places around the United States, including Melbourne, Fla., Seattle and Langley, Whidbey Island, before settling in Bellevue in 2003.

A member of St. Madeleine Sophie Catholic Church, Denis was active in the Catholic Church. In his leisure time, he enjoyed photography, travel, sports, dancing and spending time with his family. His family remembers him as a generous, loving husband, father and grandfather who possessed a keen wit and a mischievous smile. He will be deeply missed.

Survivors include his loving wife, Eileen of Bellevue; son, Paul Archer of Bellevue; and grandchildren Flynn, Shelby and Sophia.

A funeral mass will be 11 a.m. Friday, May 7 at St. Madeleine Sophie Catholic Church in Bellevue. Private burial will be held at Holyrood Catholic Cemetery in Shoreline.
