Gladys Wallick

Gladys Wallick passed away at home in Freeland on Nov. 11, 2011. She was born in Seattle, on July 4, 1917, the third child of Charles William and Jennie (Cameron) Egerton.

Gladys graduated from Ballard High School in Seattle and attended business college.

Gladys married Melvin Wallick on July 30, 1937. They built a home on 10 acres they cleared in Kirkland area. Their son, Ronald Wallick, was born in Seattle at this time.

In 1954, they relocated their family to Wauconda, Wash. where they bought the Wauconda store and Gladys was the postmaster there. In the mid 1960s Melvin and Gladys eventually settled in Issaquah where Gladys worked as an interviewer for the Washington State Employment Security Department. After retiring in 1985, they moved Freeland on Whidbey Island.

Gladys was a great cook and loved gardening. She took things literally and had to be convinced that you were just kidding her. She will be dearly missed.

She was preceded in death by her husband (1994) and her brothers: Charles Egerton (1991) and Howard Egerton (1986).

Surviving Gladys is son, Ronald Wallick; granddaughter, Ronda Wallick; great-grandchildren Melody Silvia and Aaron Silvia; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Gladys is interred at Bayview Cemetery Cemetery. Arrangements were cared for by Visser Funeral Home, Langley.
