Glenn Hauser

Glenn Theodore Hauser, 84, passed away on May 10, 2012.

Born March 13, 1928 in San Bernardino, CA, Glenn was then transported to Riverside, CA where he led an idyllic childhood. There were trees to climb, a shop to putter in, a cow that gave only cream (it seemed) and the nickel movies in town which filled the rest of his needs.

Glenn graduated Poly High in Riverside and attended Whittier College in Whittier, CA. He joined the Navy and spent time in an Okinawa airfield while it was being dismantled, where he fell in love with airplanes.

Throughout his life Glenn flew 19 different airplanes and had 2 of his own.

He reentered the Navy as a flight cadet and upon receiving his wings, Glenn chose the Marine Corps.

In Flight Cadet School, Glenn met his wife, Jahala “Josh”, and after a cross country courtship lived happily ever after… sort of.

Three cross country moves, three overseas tours, and 550 trips in and around Vietnam: his work as a Maintenance Officer kept him from the family he loved. He and Josh had two children born in Southern CA, who eventually attended and graduated from South Whidbey High School.

Glenn and his family moved to Whidbey Island in 1970 upon his retirement from the military. He restored the old post office in Langley into a bookstore (Moonraker Books) and worked next door in the liquor agency. After a spell he turned his attention to their funky beach house and turned it into a home and a haven.

He was a stellar husband & friend, a loving father, amazing builder, brilliant writer, divine cook, funniest guy on the block and the nicest man ever.

Preceding Glenn in death were his parents: Marion and Catherine “Cassie” Hauser, and brothers: Jean & Jess.

Lovingly remembering Glenn are his wife, Josh & son, Barry, of Whidbey Island, daughter: Kateen (Steven) Davis and granddaughters: Keelin & Berit, of Woodinville, WA. As well as survived by his sister, Marion, in Virginia.

At Glenn’s request there are no services planned.
